Veterans Aid and Attendance - Below is the rate table for 2011 for Aid and Attendance showing how
much a veteran or their spouse can be entitled to:
3
Key Eligibility Requirements To Keep In Mind
- The veteran must have served in active military for 90 or more
consecutive days, with 1 day during a period of wartime as defined
by the Veterans Administration.
- The veteran must have been discharged under anything other than
dishonorable conditions.
- The veteran must be over the age of 65 or disabled.
The Improved Pension with Aid and Attendance benefit is one of the
most misunderstood benefits being administered by the VA today. Many
families who attempt to complete the 20 page application put down
inaccurate information and miss many of the detailed supporting
documents that are needed by the VA. This leads to delays, denials and
frustration causing many families to give up. Our offices hear over and
over, "we wish we knew about you guys before we talked to _______."
Improved Pension has been around since 1951 but because of the
multi faceted requirements needed when applying, a lot of wrong
information is being put out over the internet and passed around in
communities all over the US. We run across veterans or spouses daily
that have been told they don't or can't qualify when actually they
can.
Misunderstood Statements:
- To get this benefit the veteran must have suffered an
injury, been wounded or died during service?
WRONG
- To get this benefit the veteran must have been in battle?
WRONG
- To get this benefit the veteran must have served during the
whole war? WRONG
- To get this benefit the veteran or spouse must be out of
money? WRONG
- To get this benefit the veteran must be living in a nursing
home or assisted living complex? WRONG
- To get this benefit the veteran can't be getting a military
pension? WRONG
- If the Veteran is receiving a partial VA disability they
can't get this benefit? WRONG
Because of the extremely high workload of all VA offices, their
representatives can only provide the basic requirements of the
benefits. Many people are told they are not qualified, when in fact
they would qualify. The key is asking the right questions. Our
office has already asked the right questions and we would like to
share that knowledge with you. The confusion begins with the VA
terminology and ends with the mind-boggling task of knowing what
forms need to be completed, in what level of detail, and with what
type of documentation that is considered acceptable for a
determination. To take the time on this website to give you all the
in's/outs and backwards/forwards of each type of case would be
impossible. So to help families through the process we conduct free
informational seminars to relay the basic information on what is
needed when applying. If families want a in-depth review of the
veteran or spouse's personal situation, please call us today at
(305)373-1070 for a free consultation.
